THE CONFERENCE SEEKS TO PROMOTE AN INTERDISCIPLINARY DIALOGUE ON THE TOPIC OF "SUSTAINABLE URBAN DRAINAGE" UNDER PLANNING, REGULATORY AND INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVES, INCLUDING ITS LEGAL, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS.
_

Extensive urban occupation of rural lands in the last decades has promoted critical alterations in the hydrological cycle. On top of that, climate change phenomenon has increased the intensity and frequency of climate events, which forces societies to reexamine urban infrastructure planning and adopt management measures to secure its long-term sustainability. Such conditions require conceptual changes in the urban drainage infrastructure system models and a new vision on water quality management and storm pollution controls. Recently, the concept of sustainable drainage was developed to manage rainwater, in an integrated manner, addressing the issues of flood control, water quality, and availability, biodiversity, human convenience, as well as reassuring the key role of water in the cities.
